Alvarium has recently announced plans to merge with a US investment and wealth advisor firm in early 2022. The combined business, Alvarium Tiedemann Holdings (AlTi) is expected to be valued at $1.4 billion, to have combined assets under management of over $50 billion and be listed on Nasdaq and will have access to substantial capital for further investments. The focus will remain on high net-worth individuals across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific with a focus on impact or values-aligned investing.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong candidate to develop their career in a fast pace and challenging environment within a multinational private company. The candidate will join the existing compliance team in London.
In the UK, Alvarium has a wide range of FCA directly regulated firms and JV/subsidiary appointed representatives, in all about 20 regulated entities. The primary focus will be on the retail investment advisory division which manages ultra-high net worth client accounts on a discretionary and advisory basis. Other divisions, which are professional client only businesses, engage in merchant banking, corporate finance, corporate broking, real estate partnerships, managing REITs and operating an AIFM.
• Assisting with the compliance monitoring programme for the international businesses (ex. US), including client file reviews
• Assisting with the review and assessment of the effectiveness of procedures and controls in practice
• Develop knowledge of current and future procedures to understand how risks are mitigated
• Assisting with the assessment business processes and identify risks to firm’s and regulator’s requirements
• Help with the standardisation of monitoring and oversight throughout the overseas group operations
• Contribute to the quarterly compliance monitoring reports as appropriate to the boards of the operating firms and work with the businesses to resolve any issues identified
• Working closely with operational teams
• Working with other members of the team as necessary on special projects, e.g. corporate acquisitions and changes in control
• Promoting good lines of communication to encourage staff to report compliance issues or potential concerns
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
• Strong IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Proven to be discrete and trusted with sensitive information
• To demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team with a ‘can do’ attitude and to maintain a positive approach to working with complex situations in a busy environment
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of seniority
• Excellent attention to detail, conscientious, diligent and proactive
