The focus will remain on high net-worth individuals across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific with a focus on impact or values-aligned investing.

Job Description

JOB MISSION

The Firm’s recent move to Addepar as our back-office data aggregation and investment accounting system will vastly improve the efficiency of generating the analytics to review client portfolios across multiple dimensions, allowing us to centrally account for and calculate client risk and performance data. Alvarium is also rolling out a sophisticated risk and performance analytics/modelling tool, Jacobi, which integrates with Addepar.

The combination of these two new platforms requires a new focus on investment operations and data integrity/integration. Alvarium is standing up a Data Operations team as part of this new focus. This team will:

Map and optimise dataflows/data processes across the business

Deliver intelligence from data

Maintain data quality through effective data governance and management to provide a "single source of truth"

The role will own the technical systems that house the data and be responsible for the build-out and maintenance of data pipelines and architecture.

The role will combine data process architecture with an initial need for practical hands-on data pipeline creation.

The candidate will work initially with the Alvarium Director of Integration and the Integration team to stand up and build out necessary workflows and documentation, as well as get up to speed with the project so far.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive implementation of data operations function to support Investment Advisory division reporting, trading and portfolio management
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architectures.
  • Assemble data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Undertake general database administration tasks and have an understanding of data modelling techniques.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL / C#, Python and cloud platforms.
  • Assist with planning and delivery of Data Operations function, as well as work with the technology team on data operations projects.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • At least 4-5 years of experience in data solutions/infrastructure engineering.
  • Prior experience within the wealth and/or asset management sector is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and Python, C# an advantage.
  • Experience working with REST APIs is an advantage.
  • Experience designing and using data pipeline and ETL tools, especially Portfolio BI.
  • Understanding of system design, infrastructure, and security (elasticity, containerisation, security protocols, etc).
  • Excellent academic credentials with a good undergraduate degree with a science/finance/economics focus (minimum 2.1).
  • Intellectual curiosity to evaluate and drive change and continuous improvement, with a thirst for automation and efficiency drives.
  • Excellent numeracy and statistical skills.
  • Experience of multi-jurisdictional wealth management organisations an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal skills (verbal and written communication) in English. Other European languages an advantage.
