Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-orientated accountant to join our Holding Company finance team as the Assistant Controller. The candidate will be responsible for managing financial records for a specific set of entities and preparing reporting for these entities for inclusion in the consolidated group accounts in accordance with US GAAP and SEC required reporting.

This role requires a keen eye for accuracy, strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic corporate environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations as well as alignment with group policies.
  • Closely monitor vendor spend, providing budget to actual analysis and real-time updates as requested by management.
  • Collaborate with department heads and FP&A team to develop annual budgets and provide support in creating financial forecasts
  • Within the context of the group audit, facilitate external audits by coordinating with auditors, creating and providing audit schedules and ensuring timely submission of required documentation.
  • Manage and oversee the relevant entities’ tax compliance preparation/submission in accordance with direction from tax department
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, providing insights into liquidity and recommending strategies for optimization, as well as preparing cashflow statement for inclusion in consolidated financial statements.
  • Operate relevant accounting internal controls, assessing effectiveness and making recommendations for improvement as required.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant, ACA/ACCA/CPA designation required
  • 6 years experience
  • Experience as a legal entity controller, preferably in a public company within the asset management/wealth management space, or auditing publicly traded companies.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles & financial reporting
  • Proficiency with general ledger software (experience with NetSuite is preferred) and advanced Excel skills
  • Detail orientated, excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills

With respect to positions in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $145,000 -$165,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, and education. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
