Job Description

As the Head of Tax at AlTi Global, Inc. (“AlTi”) you will play a crucial role in overseeing all tax-related matters for the organization. This position requires a seasoned tax professional with expertise in US GAAP and managing a multinational structure with regards to international taxes. This role will manage internal and external teams and will focus on GAAP compliance. The primary responsibilities of this role encompass tax planning, compliance, and income tax provision.

Job Responsibilities

Income tax provision

  • Lead the development and execution of processes for the preparation and review of the annual and quarterly income tax provision calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and guidelines, particularly ASC 740 regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary financial data and documentation for accurate provision calculations.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and accounting standards, adjusting provision methodologies accordingly.
  • Manage the documentation and communication of all aspects of the income tax provision to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the coordination and preparation of all SEC financial statement disclosures related to income tax, providing transparent and comprehensive information to investors and regulatory bodies.

Tax compliance

  • Manage the end-to-end process of federal, state, and local tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filing.
  • Collaborate with external advisors to stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact compliance.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third-party tax consultants, guiding them in the preparation of required tax returns.
  • Conduct regular reviews of compliance procedures and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor and address any correspondence or inquiries from tax authorities, working to resolve issues and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Stay informed about potential tax incentives and credits, exploring opportunities to optimize the company's tax position within legal and ethical frameworks.

Tax planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies to optimize the company's overall tax position.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the tax implications of business decisions and proposed transactions.
  • Provide proactive guidance on tax-related matters to support strategic initiatives and corporate goals.
  • Evaluate the tax consequences of mergers, acquisitions, and other business activities, recommending strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Conduct scenario analyses to identify potential tax risks and opportunities, presenting findings to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
  • Communicate complex tax planning concepts in a clear and concise manner to senior leadership, fostering a deep understanding of the tax landscape and its impact on the company's financial position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required.
  • 15+ years of experience with at least 5 years in a tax leadership role and ability to demonstrate effective management and team growth skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, especially ASC 740 regulations.
  • Knowledge of partnership tax technical matters, including 704(b) and 704(c) capital account regulations.
  • Ability to communicate technical tax topics to senior leadership in a manner that effectively elevates the knowledge base of the Company.
  • Proven experience at a senior level in a tax leadership role focusing on GAAP compliance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in US GAAP and international taxes.
  • Previous exposure to Up-C/TRA structures highly preferred.
  • Track record of successfully managing income tax provision and compliance processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

With respect to positions in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $250,000 -$275,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, and education. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
